RESCUE 2012 litter clearance in Caversham – a big thank you

A big “thank you” is due to twenty two Caversham GLOBE supporters who invested 71 hours over 4 days in March clearing litter and fly-tipping during the 2012 annual RESCUE (Rivers and Environmental Spaces Clean Up Event). You may have seen some of them out and about in Central Caversham, Balmore Walk, Bugs Bottom, Christchurch Meadow, Hill’s Meadow and View Island. Their collection included 79 sacks of litter, 4 shopping trolleys, various scrap metal plastic & timber, electric cable, pallets and textiles. Sadly this demonstrates that some members of our community see nothing wrong with fly-tipping of hazardous or general waste or discarding drinks cans, bottles, snack and food wrappers in our green spaces.              CLICK  THIS  PICTURE TO SEE DETAIL

Caversham GLOBE supporters care passionately about our local environment. Do make contact if you would like to help or if you know of an area that would be improved by litter picking, tree or hedge planting.  www.cavershamglobe.org.uk
